新疆官员近期密集落马，自治区党委原副书记李鹏新被调查。有分析认为，李鹏新是现任中共中央政治局常委赵乐际在青海提拔的亲信。中共二十大后，赵乐际的中纪委旧部、青海旧部密集落马，显示其已成为习近平当局重点清洗目标。
中纪委12月11日通报称，新疆维吾尔自治区党委原副书记李鹏新被调查。
李鹏新，1960年12月生，山西神池人，在青海工作超30年，曾任共青团青海省委书记、青海省委常委、西蒙古族藏族自治州委书记，后兼任省委政法委书记。

赵乐际与李鹏新关系密切，李鹏新是赵乐际在青海提拔的亲信，李鹏新发迹于赵乐际担任青海省委书记时，赵乐际于2003至2007年任青海省委书记，2005年45岁的李鹏新担任青海省委常委，此后近20年辗转内蒙、新疆等地，一直在副部级位置上徘徊，直到12月11日被查。
虽然赵乐际亲信新疆党委副书记李鹏新落马，
但是新提拔的新疆副书记张柱还是赵乐际的人马。
2015年6月，张柱任中共宁夏回族自治区党委常委，中卫市委书记、市人大常委会主任。2017年6月，张柱任中共宁夏回族自治区党委常委、固原市委书记。
这期间的中组部部长正是赵乐际。
2019年7月22日至24日，赵乐际以中纪委书记的身份到宁夏调研。

He served as Secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, member of the Standing Committee of the Qinghai Provincial Committee, Secretary of the Mongolian Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Committee, and later Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Committee of the Provincial Committee.
Li Pengxin was transferred across provinces to serve as member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2011. In September 2016, he was transferred to the position of deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. After that, he successively served as secretary-general of the Party Committee of the autonomous region and secretary of the Education Working Committee of the autonomous region. Li Pengxin is the 45th central management cadre to be investigated publicly by the authorities this year.
Zhao Leji has a close relationship with Li Pengxin. Li Pengxin was a close confidant of Zhao Leji promoted in Qinghai. Li Pengxin made his fortune when Zhao Leji served as Secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee. Zhao Leji served as Secretary of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee from 2003 to 2007. In 2005, 45-year-old Li Pengxin served as Qinghai Provincial Party Committee Secretary. A member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, he moved to Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other places in the past 20 years, and has been hovering at the deputy ministerial level until he was investigated on December 11.
Although Zhao Leji’s close confidant Li Pengxin, deputy secretary of the Xinjiang Party Committee, was dismissed,
But Zhang Zhu, the newly promoted deputy secretary of Xinjiang, is still Zhao Leji’s man.
In June 2015, Zhang Zhu was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Party Committee, Secretary of the Zhongwei Municipal Party Committee, and Director of the Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee. In June 2017, Zhang Zhu was appointed as member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Secretary of the Guyuan Municipal Party Committee.
During this period, the head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee was Zhao Leji.
From July 22 to 24, 2019, Zhao Leji went to Ningxia for investigation as secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
In the two months before Zhao Leji went to Ningxia, 17 middle- and high-level officials in Ningxia, most of whom were in the political, legal and public security system, were dismissed.
On the morning of March 7, 2021, the Ningxia delegation held a plenary meeting at the Great Hall of the People at the Fourth Session of the 13th National People’s Congress to review the plan report and budget report. Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, came to the Ningxia delegation to deliberate with the representatives.
These data all show that Zhao Leji has considerable strength in Ningxia, proving that Xi Jinping is still unable to defeat Zhao Leji for the time being, and will continue to fight.
